The phone's vertical framing brings the face closer and makes expression easier to read than the desktop format, which works in your favour during the first two seconds. On the other hand you cannot show your hands or your surroundings without handling the device. Three settings avoid most dropouts: turn off battery saver, which aggressively throttles the camera and the network; close the apps eating bandwidth; and rest the phone on a stand, because a shaky image makes people skip just as reliably as a dark one.
